A highly varied role encompassing the Development Management responsibilities with the role of IT Manager for the group.Overseeing the IT help desk and infrastructure teams for the 300 HPS Group employees covering 4 sites and a large number of remote workers. Planning the overall IT strategy and longer term roadmap. Working with senior executives and project team members to define and manage the scope, strategy, requirements and implementation of programs and projects.Developing processes and procedures for the software development and IT functions to ensure a robust and secure technical environment.

I manage a cross functional team of 14 individuals comprising application developers, support developers, testers, and UX architects creating responsive online marketing solutions. The online solutions my team develop are used by multinational companies to process £M of orders annually.I oversee the architecture and planning of the software estate as it is consolidated and developed, and take ownership and responsibility for the delivery of new products and services. I work with both internal and external product owners to help translate their needs into robust solutions. Reporting to the Managing Director I managed a globally dispersed development and support team of 10 individuals to formulate mission critical standard and customised software implementations to support laboratory environments across a number of industries. The companies LIMS software integrated into large IT projects in fully validated environments, interfacing with ERP, MRP and other business software such as SAP, JD Edwards, and Sage. We also provided complex specialist integrations with laboratory instrumentation. The team I managed included direct employees and offshore contracted staff.I also performed development tasks, technologies used included C#, ASP.Net, JavaScript, HMTL, XML, CSS, database development for SQL Server and Oracle and Source code control using Bazaar and CVS. I also created bespoke interfaces and systems integrations.My technical and project leadership skills enabled me to work on multi million pound projects to deliver high quality software solutions to high profile customers in diverse business sectors running projects using Agile, Waterfall and TDD methodologies. The software forms part of the key applications infrastructure within these organisations, the data from the software being consumed by 100,000’s of users.

After completion of my Computer Science degree I was offered the opportunity to return to my sandwich placement company to undertake the development of a new product for the company. This position managed all Web product development for the company globally and involved management of a development team of 9 developers working on individual and group projects. I was required to manage the full development life cycle and control project budgets. The role also involved key development of custom software for the company. Development skills included C#, ASP.Net, JavaScript, HMTL, DHTML, XML, CSS, ADO, OLEDB and database development for SQL Server and Oracle.

Leading a team of 30 team members across various roles at the age of 21, I controlled the workflow to meet the demands set for the shift. The position included responsibilities for ordering raw materials and the smooth running of the high-speed video duplication department. The job also included competency with all equipment used in the video editing and duplication processes.
