Gerald earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida and his master’s degree from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Gerald taught music at Yale University from 1973 until 1980. As an accomplished musician, at the age of 28 he became the principal clarinetist with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra. After achieving his professional musical goals, Gerald returned to Florida in 1980 and became immersed in the financial services industry. After a successful career with Prudential Insurance, Gerald opened his first individual financial services firm in 1986 and has never looked back. One would assume music and financial planning are diametrically opposite disciplines. After all, one requires creativity and artistic ability, while the other entails logic and mathematics. This is not necessarily true, according to Gerald. “Whether you are a musician or financial planner, you learn and become skilled at your craft through commitment, practice, passion and discipline.”In 2001, Gerald founded Baum Financial Services, Inc. a firm dedicated to providing retirement income planning solutions to individuals in or nearing retirement. Since then Gerald has presented his retirement income planning concepts and techniques to over 35,000 individuals to assist them in overcoming their retirement income planning challenges. Gerald’s sole focus is to create retirement income plans that deliver income, safety and security without the concern of market volatility or individual longevity.
