My name is Gerald Jacobs, and I am an Engineer In Training that currently works at Arcadis as a Resident Engineer & Inspector. My engineering experience and education includes Renewable Energy Technology, Highway Engineering and Traffic Analysis, Production Engineering Management, Statistical Methods in Manufacturing, Engineering Acoustics, Thermodynamics, Solid and Fluid Mechanics, Dynamics, Heat Transfer, Materials Engineering, Production Engineering Management, Statistical Methods in Manufacturing, Acoustics Engineering, Dynamic Systems and Controls, and Mechatronics.In my most recent, previous position, I performed project management and design engineering including:• Designing, ordering, and coordinating the installation of a lighting system on the exterior of a water tower, including 3d modeling and printing a custom angling jig solution• Overseeing logistics and installation of a pump skid and piping system to increase output pressure of a water tower• Communicating with clients, external contractors, and construction crews to ensure the project requirements were metAt Huntington Ingalls Industries, I reviewed technical drawings and performed physical inspections in order to ensure that proper safety measures were taken before, during, and after plant maintenance operations during the carrier’s midlife overhaul process. Then, I supervised the work, checking and recording various parameters in accordance with written testing procedures.At UT, my coursework involved learning fundamental engineering principles and then applying them using various design processes in a wide array of applications, including projects such as creating MATLAB solar energy output models, running concurrent multiple heat sink design analyses in SolidWorks, stress testing 3D CAD models, creating dynamic systems and controllers using LabVIEW, and performing experimental polymer analyses. I believe that the experience gained in those processes, workflows, and projects has prepared me for tasks and projects that are integral to being an engineer.In addition to my technical experience, I am well organized and easy to work with.
