About Geraldine Cumberbatch Sanya

A solicitor-advocate (civil), NED and Trustee. I am an experienced solicitor-advocate (civil) who brings an innovative and dynamic leadership approach to working with Boards, and regulatory bodies, as inhouse counsel. I advise and facilitate solutions in relation to regulatory, commercial and policy matters; in addition to litigation and dispute resolution. I am also instrumental in policy formulation, and have contributed to amending primary and drafting secondary legislation, including byelaws. I am also passionate about leading, mentoring, training and coaching team members and spearheading collaborative and partnership working within and across organisations. I currently sit as a Board member for Oxford NHS Foundation Trust, which has a particular focus on the provision of mental health care- an area that I am passionate about. I contribute to the Board as a critical friend, to ensure the Trust's strategic aims are are patient-centred and outcome focused, to provide the best possible care for patients. This is partly achieved by sitting on and chairing the Mental Health and Law Act Commiittee; and by challenging and facilitating improvements in staffing difficulties, as part of my membership of the People, Leadership and Culture Commitee.I also sit as a Board Trustee for the charity, Start Up Croydon. The charity provides entreprenuers with support in the form of training, mentoring and the provision of affordable of office space. I enjoy utilising my legal and commercial skills to support this charity and its clients, by advising on practical and commercial issues, and reviewing funding and partnership agreements to facilitate innovative projects; including a partner funded project to provide a "digital lab", which enable clients to drive their businesses forward into decades by utilising future-oriented technologies.
