What drives me is knowing we can create better workplaces, in research/academia and beyond, where people can thrive and do great work together, supported by skilful leadership and inclusive sustainable cultures.I equip people with strengths-based knowledge and tools to shape their good professional life, to be effective leaders, and to build great workplace cultures.I do this through a variety of offerings: I am a speaker, facilitator, consultant, trainer, coach and podcaster, drawing on international leadership experience in academia, industry and healthcare, underpinned by a grounding in evidence-based positive psychology.I bring my personal strengths of empathy, curiosity, perspective, perseverance, and an ability to engage and inspire. I believe in people and their innate wisdom and desire to be and do good in the world.More conventionally, or probably unconventionally: I am a ‘multipotentialite’, with diverse interests, skills and sector backgrounds. I am also ‘a midwife of potential’ - developing people and culture is a common thread through all my career experiences.I have academic degrees in Informatics (PhD in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from Uni of Queensland, Australia) and in Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology (MSc in Applied Positive/Coaching Psychology form UEL, UK). Recognitions include ACM Distinguished Speaker, ACM Distinguished Scientist, IFIP Fellow, a SIGCHI Lifetime Service Award, an IFIP TC-13 Pioneer Award, a TU Informatics Best Teacher Award. I am now Professor i.R., having led an amazing group of people at the Human Computer Interaction Research Group at TU Wien from 2009-2023, having also worked in research/academia in the UK and Australia. I have also worked in the business and technology sector as a User Experience consultant. And had a prior career as a nurse and midwife.I bring diverse leadership & management experience, from being nurse manager of operating theaters and outpatients, and co-founder/partner of a private midwifery practice in a clinical context, to senior manager of user experience in an industry context, to director of research groups and manager of research project teams in an academic context.I also have extensive international experience facilitating academic leadership, early career researcher, career development and PhD workshops and courses.
