Gerald Klassen is the Research Data Scientist at the Texas Real Estate Research Center at Texas A&M University. He is the data visionary leading development of the Center’s advanced data warehouse, always thinking about creating new information products that will help Texans make better real estate decisions. Gerald produces housing statistics for almost 7,000 Texas geographies that appear in Texas REALTORS® MarketViewer portal (https://www.texasrealestate.com/members/research/marketviewer/), a free service available to all TR members.Prior to joining the Center in 2008, Gerald spent 12 years managing and developing portfolio management systems in the investment industry. At Wachovia Global Securities Lending, he developed an industry-first general ledger and accounting module for securities lending in WGSL's trading platform. This enabled WGSL to provide superior customer service to large institutional investors who needed to integrate their securities lending program into their financial reports. He also developed advanced portfolio analytics that enabled trade-level performance reporting for traders and clients.Gerald is very passionate about real estate and financial data. He is always thinking about new ways to structure and analyze data to provide understandable insights that decision makers can use to make well informed decisions. The spatial-orientation of the Center's data warehouse provides unique opportunities for research. He provides data to numerous organization conducting research about Texas real estate.Gerald has a BBA in Accounting & Finance from Simon Fraser University (Canada), MBA from University of Texas at San Antonio and a Master of Land Economics & Real Estate (MLERE) from Texas A&M University.
