Responsible for licensing, policy, and enforcement of the Michigan Liquor Code and regulate the sale and distribution of alcohol in the state. Worked with a wide range of partners in the alcohol industry including suppliers, distributors, retailers, brewers, winemakers, and distillers. Served as liaison to the Michigan Coalition to Reduce Underage Drinking network.

Manages relationships with the statewide health, business and foundation communities, non-profit organizations, governmental entities, universities and other stakeholder groups crucial to the department. Directs all marketing campaigns for the department with an approximate annual marketing budget of $7-10 million. Responsible for leading all internal and external communication strategies for the department. Leads workforce engagement and transformation activities focused on reaching the more than 14,000 employees of the department. Leads staff to support the Michigan Community Services Commission in their efforts to utilize service as a strategy to address the state's most pressing issues.

Led the appointed Board of Directors to organize and establish operations for the newly created non-profit corporation focused on improving the health of children and seniors in Michigan. Executed the board’s overarching vision and strategy direction and oversaw the initial grant cycle awarding more than $38 million in funds. Represented the fund with members of the Legislature, stakeholders, potential grant seekers and community organizations. Oversaw responsibilities of the fund including mission, vision, communications, finances and investments, governance, and grant making.

Managed and directed communication activities for Governor Rick Snyder and his administration. As a member of Governor Snyder’s Senior Staff, crafted pro-active messaging and marketing for the numerous policy issues introduced and implemented. Responsible for coordinating state department communication and marketing outreach and providing direction to state department public information officers.
