I Supervised a team of legal advisers on a Legal Help funded advice contract. I conducted file reviews for the team, to assess the quality of casework, Legal Aid Agency contract compliance. I oversaw a weekly departmental technical consult session. I also handled a large and varied Legal Help funded case-load.I Specialised in UK homelessness and housing law cases, as well as Children Act, welfare benefit, debt and insolvency advice, and housing related immigration issues. I Negotiated and advocated with local authorities, social and private landlords to secure outcomes for all parties without seeking redress in court.I have strong written legal work skills for preparation of client court hearings, homelessness applications, challenges to local authority decisions, and pre-Judicial Review action. I researched new and developing areas of law relevant to the service, then delivering training updates for the service. I also was responsible to draft and adapt the induction plans for new team members, including training on IT and case management systems.Key achievements: • Successful with under-performing advisers meet and exceed their behaviours’ and expectations by the end of their probation periods. • Exceeding expectations on objectives set for the past three financial years.• Exceeding my income billing target for the past three financial years. • Continually keeping my Legal Aid Agency SQM standard for the past seven years. • Over 500 successful outcomes in court hearings, homelessness applications, review challenges and pre-Judicial Review action.• Successfully implemented a training and induction plan which is now the standard model for caseworkers.• Cases selected to be used in national policy and campaign drives.

Key duties:Provide a high visibility presence within the city centre at various locations. Engage and build links with the varied communities, residential areas and businesses of the city centre and Kelham Island.Work alongside outreach agencies and other organisations assisting those with drug, alcohol and homeless problems.Support local police and community teams.Provide a presence and support on large city centre events, including the world championship snooker. Work alongside the environmental health department, Street cleaning, maintenance and highways teams reporting defects and waste.Providing safety talks with the police to international and home students at both university of Sheffield and Hallam university.
