Technical Illustrator at Lucid Motors; with extensive use of 3D CADD and a range of other 3D and 2.5D tools to capture and create content. Whilst here, I produced a wide range of style of illustration from fully rendered to more illustrative, both stills and animations. My internal clients ranged from Product Managers needing multiple sequential illustrations of ancillary product installation / use to detailed technical illustrations for internal technical service bulletins, procedures and manuals, to technical illustrations for User Guides and manuals to animations in support of the technical training programs.Most data started off in Catia / 3DXperience, and initially was exported out for illustrative work in Composer or Keyshot; after some time, Dan Gough and I spearheaded a much-needed pipline change to include Modo's high-powered toolset to greatly ease production bottlenecks, allow for standardisation, protoyping, and asset sharing between Technical Illustrators. I took the point in developing Modo tools, presets and modeled non-CADD assets, procedural modeling presets and workflows and so on.Huge workloads, very fast-paced, with a lot of change management and project dependencies layers deep. Great people and a truly great product.

3-Month Contract: Architectural Designer, BIM coach, 3D modeler, Architectural Illustrator - emphasis on BIM Coaching for JGA workflow and better overall use of ArchiCAD capabilities. ArchiCAD BIM modeling, BIM best practice development and documentation, file setup & BIM management, detailing, vignettes & perspectives; renders within ArchiCAD; Modo: advanced 3D modeling for use in JGA renderings; creation of custom ArchiCAD native GDL objects based on my Modo 3D models (guitars and motorcycles); Photoshop, Illustrator, Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer, ProCreate, Concept: all illustrative tasks, including teaching, style development and management. Extensive development and documentation of a new ArchiCAD based design & documentation workflow for JGA., in which JGA went from an almost exclusively 2D workflow to one in which ArchiCAD's core BIM tools are correctly used, building models are created, and the relevant views (sections, plans and elevations) are correctly derived from that model, better enabling change management and accuracy.

Using my background in technical writing and illustration in combination with my experience and knowledge as a BIM manager, we at CADDmin are developing a multi-audience, multi-platform help and documentation system for their foremost client with staff embedded at that client's facility: the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. We are using topic-based authoring and a single-source documentation model using MadCap Flare.

I was a temp for a Sacramento graphics and tech communications temp agency, where I had varied placements from desktop publishing to graphic design for a marketing agency (and later for UC Davis) to technical illustration, with placements from one week in duration to several months, whilst attending classes at CRC.

As with most of my IT experience, it was a multi-platform environment, which enabled me to renew all my Windows troubleshooting skills, as well help CRC with learning the nuances of Mac OS X; all their Macs had just been switched from legacy Mac OS 9.

I worked for Solarponics for 2 years as IT Manager, Marketing Director, and Architect's liason: during that time I helped Solarponics move from a one-computer scenario to a full network, all running Mac OS X; during that time we defined and rolled out a new FileMaker database (they had nothing other than an Excel chart for CRM when I joined) I helped them go from no drawings at all to basic but proper drafting, simple but useful 3D models using SketchUp, and move from brochures and supporting materials made in MS Word to well-designed multi-use assets made in Illustrator and large, complex InDesign documents and brochures, as well as an updated website. Whilst there, I helped them refresh their Corporate Identity package (which had been based on a logo made in MS Word) to now include vehicle wraps, uniforms, document designs and templates; Solarponics had never had anything beyond a basic logo.

Responsible for development, research, quality, staffing, scheduling, and production management of all User Guides and Technical Field Tech Manuals for a wide range of intelligent tools as part of the IC Fab precursor industry. Manuals were distributed worldwide, transliterated in many, and under my direction went from 1950's style massive paper doorstops to being smaller, well-indexed, searchable and interactive electronic documents with a printable analogue; produced included technical illustrations.
