CurrentThe Duth are traditionally known as shipbuilders and traders of the Oceans of the World. Founded in 1812, Bodewes Shipyards B.V. has a long history in building sea-going vessels starting with traditional shallow draught sailing barges, in Dutch known as "tjalks."Around 1900, various types of vessels were being built such as: steam-tugs and sailing cargo vessels. Around 1920 the first motorized cargo vessels were introduced offering 'for the time' a modern approach for both ocean going and inland water vessels, with an optimized cargo hold and meeting the wishes of the shipowners. At the end of the 1990's, Bodewes Shipyards started its first cooperation, by building casco's, with a Romanian Shipyard. The casco's were then towed to The Netherlands and outfitted to the high quality vessels which Bodewes Shipyards is known for in the market. Expansion has lead to a further cooperation with shipyards in the Ukraine and Poland.Experience, motivated employees, expertise and inventiveness are the qualities, which have made Bodewes Shipyards B.V. a successful yard that has supplied hundreds of vessels for various purposes. These can be found anywhere in the world where stringent demands are made on quality and performance.
