Superintendent of Electrical Engineering at Tesoro Los Angeles Refinery

•Electrical Engineer (Technical Authority) for company, directly supporting Capital Projects, Reliability and Health, Safety and Environmental groups•Oversee development of electrical scope and design for capital projects•Identify and justify electrical projects for domestically owned coke plants•Maintain all electrical system computer models and oversee how studies are done using these models•Identify and drive safety and reliability improvement practices•Develop company-wide electrical standards

• Address all plant maintenance issues within Electrical, Instrumentation and Control Systems discipline• Identify and drive all electrical and controls projects. Includes scope development, budget planning, oversight of design, commissioning, training and close-out activities• Develop or approve procedures for all critical Electrical / Control Systems work. This includes, but not limited to, switching and isolation for 230kV GIS - 480V switchgear, cutover of control systems, setpoint changes on live units within the plant’s DCS, one of PLC’s or within the Mark VIe turbine control system. • Ensure compliance with all site and company standards, as well as the recognized regulations from such organizations as ANSI, NFPA, API, NERC, WECC, AQMD, CARB, IEEE, OSHA• Act as execution coordinator for fast track cutovers of electrical / control system type projects. • Maintain plant’s computer based electrical system model in ETAP software

• Address all Electrical maintenance issues within the north half of 265kbd refinery• Oversee Electrical scope for various capital projects. One project involved retirement of medium voltage substation and replacement with a new prefabricated substation with arc-resistant switchgear and arc preventative MCC’s installed within a hazardous classified area. Involved in scope definition, overseeing design, various factory acceptance tests, commissioning and closeout activities• Became subject matter expert in the areas of electrical motors (including motor controls), substation monitoring and computer based electrical modeling and studies within ETAP software

• Electrical lead for Small Projects Group. Involved in entire duration of projects from appraisal to documentation as-building• Responsible electrical engineer for several capital projects• Performed some electrical designer duties whenever projects required the support
