I am the Chief Technical Officer in the School of Design at the University of Limerick. I manage all the Schools Technical needs which range from managing the technical staffs work duties, facilities, staff recruitment, Health & Safety policies and procedures, risk assessments, event management, procurement of materials, equipment, software, IT equipment and consumables for the Schools staff members, workshops and studios. Exhibition planning, set up and dismantling for end of year student show case.I also look after and support a research center for research and post grad students. Administration of grant applications for funding in relation to a National Tender process.Liaising with suppliers and companies so good value for money can be achieved for the delivery of goods and services within a Schools budget.In a previous role I would have been involved in the demonstration of engineering workshop practices, assisting and teaching cad cam software, demonstrations of specific engineering labs such as metrology, cutting forces analysis, tensile testing, wire drawing, CMM programing, lead extrusion and CNC machining to students of all engineering disciplines.Helping students with their projects and FYP'sOrdering tooling equipment, materials and safety equipment for the engineering department.Helping students with their project designs and assisting them where possible.Maintaining workshop equipment and acquiring new equipment for our department.

Worked as a Tooling Engineer which involved repairs,modifications, maintenance and ordering of tooling for moulds, jigs & fixtures production equipment. Kept maintenance logs of production equipment so good maintenance practices could be achieved.Designed and manufactured new tooling for new medical devices.Involved in R & D for new devices.Training new personal into good engineering practices.

Repaired Injection Moulds, Press Tools and Manufactured Jigs and Fixtures.Helped in the modification of moulds, Jigs & Fixtures and Press Tools.Ordered materials and spare parts for for tooling.

Trained as an apprentice Toolmaker in the Manufactured of Injection Moulds, Repaired Jigs & Fixtures and special purpose machines.Worked on wire EDM machines and CNC equipment.After completing a Degree in "Tool Design" from IT Sligo I moved into the design department which I worked on a Catia Cad system desigining and modifying mould modifications and repairs.Also was involved in special purpose machine design and jig & fixture design.
