I am a business manager with experience and training in data science and with extensive experience in engineering and business development. I completed an MSc. in Business Analytics in 2010 because I believed that data-driven decision making was becoming increasingly critical for business success and because I wanted to acquire skills in statistical analysis, practices and programming. This supplemented my prior Exec. MBA qualification. Subsequently, I co-founded and became commercial director of a start-up, Working Analytics Ltd, the primary output of which became a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product, Careergro, which we sold to multinationals like Vodafone and Heineken for self-service career management programs. We bootstrapped the Working Analytics business with analytics consultancy services and secured a contract to conduct a price-risk scoping study for a major food exporter ($2 billion sales). My responsibilities included client and project management and project technical direction. Our proposed solutions included time-series analysis, neural network modelling, text/sentiment analysis and dashboard prototyping in Excel.I am currently pursuing my technology and business interests in all things analytics/Big Data, in particular, machine learning, text analytics and programming, mainly, R, Python, SQL and Octave/Matlab.I am currently looking for an exciting opportunity in this field.Prior to 2010, my roles included product management, business development and VP engineering for a global manufacturing business. My responsibilities included strategic planning, telecoms market analysis, the introduction of many new product lines and the achievement of multi-million dollars in additional sales, involving several overseas assignments. I was also entrusted with establishing an internal start-up, a 20 person engineering and prototyping center, to pursue collaborative projects with Fortune 50 customers/partners.
