Ged’s research is a multidisciplinary study that brings together industrial design, engineering, building science and architecture to evaluate experiential construction methodologies that aim to eliminate building waste at all stages of a buildings life cycle. Full scale prototyping of these alternative construction systems will be carried out regularly with the research then moving to quantify the and evaluate performance of each system through strength testing, life cycle analysis and economic analysis. .

Teaching Fellow in Design Communication (SARC162) - 1st year course at the School of Architecture at Victoria University of Wellington with 290 students. Responsible for 50% of all lectures - as well as tutoring, assessment rubric's and brief preparation.

Postgraduate tutor of Architecture Theory and Criticism / Nga Korero Tuku Iho. The course examines architectural thinking since the Renaissance, principally as evidenced in published texts. Contemporary architectural theories are discussed with a particular emphasis on emergent critical frameworks of cultural and aesthetic production.

10 month period preparing a doctoral research proposal for review by the school of Architecture.

Engaged in an editorial role to to consolidate a large research project into a single report as a project deliverable. The research investigated the potential for 1 and 2 dimensional thermal and moisture modeling tools in the New Zealand market.

As part of Masters of Architecture (Professional) (MArch) degree at Victoria University of Wellington, a year long research study has been undertaken to determine the potential capacity of the architect to reduce and eliminate end-of-life building waste. It is foreseen that the planning and designing for the disassembly of buildings at the end of their useful lives has the potential to greatly reduce the quantity of waste produced. This research is supervised by Senior Lecturer Mr. Guy Marriage - board member for Prefab New Zealand. This research investigates how these issues may be overcome and how a mainstream residential dwelling might be re-designed to be easily deconstructed into individual material components for reuse in a timely fashion at the end of its useful life. A highly efficient expandable modular structural plywood system has been developed to enable the direct reuse of all building components. This structural system facilitates material reuse and reduces waste by allowing building linings, services and cladding's to be layered independently - effectively eliminating the need for adhesive's and single use fixings. The structure is expandable, self spanning and allows all components of a building to be mechanically fastened.

Tutoring 200 level tertiary students SARC223 Human Environmental Science. This course includes the teaching of climatic analysis techniques to understand the environmental performance of buildings, together with the thermal, visual, acoustic, and aerodynamic principles of building elements; plus the services systems required to control and maintain these conditions. Senior Tutor teaching up to 30 students simultaneously in a single tutorial (60 minutes in length) 4 times per week including the weekly marking of students assignments.

Tutoring 100 level Design Communication (SARC161). A studio-based course introducing principles, media and techniques used in the representation of three-dimensional design concepts to first year students.

Graduate Architectural Design Internship. 6 weeks in a large office (50+ people) undertaking car-park and exterior spatial concept design for a large scale redevelopment of an existing office building.

Graduate Architectural Design Internship. Six weeks completing a range of architectural design tasks in a medium sized design firm (25 people):- Concept design of a small retreat hostel located in the Borneo Highlands, Sarawak. - Concept design of a low cost Malay Resettlement Housing Prototype.- On Site Inspections of Completed Works.
