Seismic Observers deploy, operate, recover and maintain seismic recording instruments. Constant monitoring of the seismic system ensures data quality and that signal versus noise characteristics are acceptable. Deployment, recovery and maintenance of the seismic streamers, monitoring of conditions and output, and interfacing and maintenance of the recording systems form the core of a Seismic Observer’s job. The Senior Observer is in charge of the daily running of the Department.
