The TALQ Consortium has developed a standard management software interface for Outdoor Lighting Networks, such that interoperability between Central Management Systems and Outdoor Lighting Networks from different vendors is enabled. Please check www.talq-consortium.org for more information.As Secretary-General I am the day-to-day coordinator of the consortium, ensuring all conditions are met for a smooth operation, e.g. member acquisition, work group coordination and driving the consortium's promotion efforts. I supervise e.g. the financial accounting, membership administration and meeting organization, and report to the Steering Committee and General Assembly.

The Marlin Developer Community (MDC) is an open-standards community initiative that created the Marlin Digital Rights Management system. The MDC develops the necessary technology, partners, and services for enabling the creation of interoperable digital content distribution services. Marlin technology provides capabilities for consumers to manage the relationships among devices, network services, and digital content. The Coral Consortium was an organization dedicated to provide a Digital Rights Management environment in which multiple DRM systems could interoperate. It was founded in 2004 by Hewlett-Packard Corporation, InterTrust Technologies, Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V., Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (Panasonic), Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, Sony Corporation and Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp. The Coral Consortium has been dissolved in December 2012. Its last specification was available until April 1, 2013. Coral proposes an architecture whereby devices using different DRM technologies are able to join a Domain that allows them to exchange protected content securely. A device used by a family member wishing to play a music file that is stored on another family-owned device can use Coral to obtain a new copy (or license) in the correct format, with the Coral infrastructure managing the necessary permissions and translation of rights to the new device. In theory this should greatly ease the portability of protected media files between devices. Much of the work in the Coral Consortium has proven to be useful in the development of the UltraViolet (UVVU) system.

Philips CryptoTec was the combination of Philips Crypto and Philips CryptoWorks (TV Conditional Access system). Explored new opportunities, including Digital Rights Management, Watermarking and Fingerprinting.

On behalf of Standards and Licensing I worked as Technical Project Leader on the Super Audio CD system. Lead the Philips team involved in standardisation discussions with Sony. Developed a better understanding of superb audio recording and reproduction, as well as people management skills.

As a (Senior) Electronics Engineer with Philips I have worked on some very exciting Consumer Electronics systems:- Digital Audio Tape: I pushed for a revision of the DAT subcode, and made the electronic design of the Serial Copy Management System;- Digital Audio Broadcast: attended early standardisation meetings of the DAB specification, with a focus on Audio Coding;- Digital Compact Cassette: design of the tape format and audio coding system, editor of the specification;- MPEG Multichannel: promotion of multichannel audio standard, involving technical writing, stakeholder analysis, brand and logo development, etc.- Editor of international standard: IEC 958 Digital Audio Interface
