Gerardo is a cartoonist, editor, and illustrator who focuses on non-fiction, journalism, and information visualization. He received his MA in Sequential Art from the Savannah College of Art & Design. In 2018, he received a fellowship through the Denver Independent Comics & Art Expo as well as the Young Creators grant in sequential art from the National Fund for the Culture and Arts in Mexico. In 2019, he was a creator in residence at La Maison des auteurs in Angoulême, France with a grant from the French Embassy.Gerardo’s work has been published online and in print by The Nib, Abrams Books, EA Games, Tiny View, and Boom! Studios. He contributed to Guantanamo Voices, named one of the Best Graphic Novels of 2020 by The New York Times. Gerardo has also worked as Managing Editor for the Latin-American division of Webtoon Entertainment. In this role, he managed the editorial team, facilitated content acquisition meetings, and oversaw the publication of over 50 titles in English and Spanish. In this position, Gerardo collaborated with artists and writers worldwide providing editorial guidance for the Original Series comics lineup. Gerardo lives in Jersey City, NJ with his partner Allyson Shwed and his two cats. He and Allyson publish cool comics and screenprint fun things as Little Red Bird Press.
