Gerardo Berthin has over two decades of experience in executive and senior management roles in international development programs and projects funded by the U.S. Department of State, USAID, EU, the United Nations’ system, and other multilateral and bilateral donors for work in over 50 countries in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, the Pacific, and Central & Eastern Europe. A decisive manager with a proven track record of managing and leading successful global, regional and local teams from a wide range of cultural and functional backgrounds. Proven ability to design and oversee complex fundraising and advocacy strategies involving partnerships and collaboration with and among governmental agencies, bilateral and multilateral development institutions, the private sector, and non-governmental organizations.He has done consultancies for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, and the Swedish Agency for Development Cooperation, among others. He has conducted several assessments to incorporate development and governance activities into donor and/or government strategies in several countries around the world. He is also the author and co-author of more than twelve UNDP national human development reports worldwide and numerous books, technical manuals, peer reviewed journal articles and capacity building workshops. He is a graduate in International Affairs from George Washington University (Washington D.C.), he holds two Masters Degrees: one in Political Science, the other in Latin American Studies from Georgetown University (Washington D.C.) and a Second one from the University of Chicago respectively.
