The fuels, chemicals, and materials necessary for modern life often contain carbon; as such, we need a vibrant circular economy that optimizes the use of carbon from renewable biomass and carbon-rich waste streams to substitute for as much fossil carbon as fast as possible. However, the production and use of bio- and waste-based fuels, chemicals, and materials is not increasing as rapidly as needed to achieve Net-Zero Emissions by 2050. Therefore, the Biofuture Campaign was developed in the context of the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) to enable joint work between Governments and Industry to accelerate deployment of bio- and waste-based products and showcase how they can and will benefit society.

As a member of the Global Advisory Team, I work to develop impactful partnerships that accelerate the development of the global bioeconomy as a means to realizing the Energy Transition and creating a Circular Economy. In GBS we are committed to finding the synery between the global bioeconomy and ESG investing.

Co-founder and Senior Advisor to below50, a global campaign to de-carbonize transport by growing markets for the world's most sustainable fuels.

I served as the Secretariat for the Sustainable Bioenergy High Impact Opportunity (HIO) under the auspices of the UN Sustainable Energy For All Initiative. We worked to create high functioning Public-Private Partnerships to foster the deployment of solutions to global need for energy access and increasing the use of renewables through the sustainable production and use of bioenergy.

I promote the sustainable production and use of bioenergy for sustainable development. I connect U.S. government technical expertise on sustainable bioenergy to ongoing diplomatic efforts related to sustainable development. In particular, I am the U.S. governmnet technical lead to the Global Bioenergy Partnership (GBEP).

Department of Biological EngineeringStudied cell fate decisions in response to genotoxic stress. Discovered signal transduction pathways required for DNA damage induced senescence. Emphasized single cell methods to identify the behavior of distinct sub-populations of cells.

Studied the biochemistry and structural biology of proteins required for Group II intron splicing in maize chloroplasts. Performed thesis research in the laboratories of Alice Barkan and Brian Matthews.

Lectured in General Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Biochemistry. Developed the first Molecular Biology Teaching Laboratory at ASU.
