Director Tpm Energy Transition LabTechnische Universiteit Delft Apr 2020 - PresentDelft, NlThe TPM Energy Transition Lab is an experimental lab with the ambition to perform innovative and interdisciplinary research on the development of new approaches, methods and tools for fostering an effective, fair, legitimate energy transition. From various perspectives and with various (multi)methods, TPM Energy Transition Lab studies behavior in and design of the energy transition. The TPM Energy Transition Lab aims to develop out-of-the-box, high risk activities that connect TPMs researchers and strengthens the position of energy transition research at TPM and TU Delft.https://www.tudelft.nl/tbm/energy-transition-lab -

Lead Climate Action Programme - Flagshiip Behavioural InsightsTechnische Universiteit Delft Jan 2024 - PresentDelft, NlThis flagship (a collaboration between multiple faculties, funded by the TU Delft Climate Action Programme) focuses on behavioural insights for climate action. Climate action requires behavioural and social changes on a multi-actor level. To address climate change, policymakers and engineers have to design acceptable policies and technologies, and households and industries need to adapt to the required changes at individual and group levels. These actors interact in systems. Behavioural and social change in such systems are difficult to accomplish because of the underlying intra- and interpersonal processes of actors such as biases, preferences, and social dynamics. Behavioural science perspectives, theories and methods can provide insight into those processes as well as aid the design of effective policy or technology interventions. More specifically, behavioural sciences can (1) improve the scientific understanding of the behavioural, cultural and social structures of all actors involved, and thus (2) increase the effectiveness of decision-making processes and (technological) interventions that seek to support behavioural change. Furthermore, (3) it facilitates formalization and (computational) modelling of decision-making processes. (4) it contributes to theory development on climate-relevant behaviour. Finally, (5) through Living Lab studies it enables user-centric testing of underlying assumptions and iterative redesign of human-system interaction.https://www.tudelft.nl/climate-action/onderzoeksthemas/klimaat-governance -

Commission MemberCity Of Amsterdam Feb 2024 - PresentAmsterdam, Www.Amsterdam.Nl, NlThe City of Amsterdam has set up an advisory committee on the Physical Domain. I have been appointed as one of the six members. The independent advisory committee was set up to advise the municipality on the city's complex spatial challenges. In recent years, the playing field with potentially conflicting interests has grown. Sustainability, climate adaptation, energy transition and the housing challenge are policy areas that have become increasingly important and that affect the implementation of all spatial challenges. The advisory committee will examine the current issues, ambitions and challenges facing Amsterdam. As a psychologist and scientist, I will focus in particular on social impact and behaviour linked to the energy transition and climate adaptation, using my international perspective, experiences with practice and organising support.
