With my head in the clouds, I still dream. I have an unwavering enthusiasm for engineering, especially when someone declares something 'impossible.' Over the past two years, my interests have shifted from a blend of business development, pure mathematics, and computer science to a burning question: 'How can I be an engineer in the cutting-edge realm of sports?'My journey has been marked by notable achievements, including receiving a distinguished innovation prize from MultiChoice for my final-year engineering project. I employed computer vision to automate mundane rugby analytics tasks, a challenge that had very little prior literature to guide me. This experience ignited my proactive ambition to push boundaries further.Currently, I am actively involved in pioneering research with a world-leading sports innovation company. The primary focus is to deploy 3D augmented reality in broadcast sports footage. Perhaps you've observed modern logos are projected onto rugby or soccer fields? Did you also notice that these are consistently 2D, and displayed from a single camera per stadium? With my head in the clouds, I could already see these 2D animations transform to 3D, and from any angle! This is my thesis, and building the future from the clouds; that is my passion.
