Has been an associate survey specialist with the Small Arms Survey since 2014. Previously, he worked as senior research director of Gallup Europe. Advise and evaluate research design, sampling, instrument development, and analysis of the outcomes.

The aim of this short-term consultancy is to develop a quality tool that will enable the collection of nationally representative and internationally comparable statistics for monitoring of progress on SDG 16. Nine global indicators included in the SDG monitoring framework are derived from population surveys. To ease the task of National Statistical Offices having to monitor these nine survey-based indicators as part of their reporting on SDG 16, a dedicated ‘SDG 16 survey module’ will be developed to be included in on-going programs of household and other relevant statistical surveys at national level.

Professional assistance to design, organise and execute Gallup's pan-European research endeavours that included a number of high-profile multi-country policy research projects for clients like the Fundamental Rights Agency of the European Union, the World Bank, or the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofund).

Budapest - Brussels

Working with the European Commission as a client, Hideg was a key member of the team that serviced the prestigious Flash Eurobarometer project, the telephone-based quantitative opinion polling of the Commission. Participated in over 100 individual research projects in this framework, with duties that involved client consultation, survey conceptualisation and design, as well as analysis and reporting / presentation / consulting. Responsible for project conceptualisation and design, working with high profile domestic and international clients for opinion and market research. Consulted blue-chip Hungarian enterprises as well as several international organisations. Assisted in designing and executing political surveys and exit polls. Assisted in media audience measurement, and was one of the authors of the Gallup Omnibus Survey of the time. Joined the Gallup Organization in 1996, to conduct a media monitoring survey in the post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina, along with the first representative survey of the three constituent communities of the country, called the Bosnia Peace Poll. Starting form 1997, participated in the daily research activities of Gallup Hungary, first as a junior researcher. Responsibilities included the sampling, questionnaire design, analysis, and presentation / consultancy, primarily for domestic clients.

Participated in the execution and analysis of OSI's Higher Education Needs Assessment Survey, conducted in a number of East European / Middle Asian countries, among a representative sample of officials at Higher Education institutions in the Post-Communist block and countries of the former Soviet Union.

Vienna - Budapest

Hideg acted as the Hungarian liasion and a junior research fellow for the Vienna-based think tank ICCR (The Interdisciplinary Centre for Comparative Research in the Social Sciences), providing practical assistance for the Hungarian research activities of the Centre. Also served in the editorial board of ICCR's academic journal, called Innovation.
