At PriceCheck I was involved in developing new platforms such as cars.pricecheck.co.za and property.pricecheck.co.za while also maintaining and improving the www.pricecheck.co.za online platform. Our team also worked on an updated system providing reporting and administration tools for the content of the different platforms PriceCheck provides.I was part of a great software engineering team working together on all the different platforms ensuring experience in a wide variety of technologies. We used mainly PHP (Laravel and Codeigniter), MySQL, AngularJS, HTML.

At Octoplus I was involved in maintaining and building new features for data intensive online systems using PHP frameworks such as CakePHP and Laravel. I also provided training for these systems and attended workshops to train the users and administrators on how to use the systems. Some highlights in working here was to travel to Nairobi, Kenya, to assist in a workshop on a Trade Barrier system Octoplus developed. Another highlight was to develop a system where you sit with the users using their current system to understand the exact needs, as well as the scope of the job, then going through a process where you work towards a more effective, user friendly system to make admin, the work and the whole workflow a super effective and more pleasant process.A summary of my work at Octoplus- Developing and maintain web systems with the CakePHP and Laravel MVC framework, using MySQL- Provide training for systems developed by Octoplus- Web development- Develop and maintain websites in Drupal and Wordpress

- Using C# and .NET, we developed mobile websites and systems for feature phones, as well as smart phones. This was mainly to view statements on mobile websites and MMS for the Edcon group.- Develop and maintain websites and systems developed in C# - an example was hosting a live streaming sports website that had to be viewed on different platforms such as Desktop, Tablet and Smartphones- Assist in web design

During my studies I did part time work for ConsultandC. ConsultandC, at the time, were doing marketing and consulting work for mainly Smart Village. Smart village provides internet and communication solutions in estates, retirement villages, etc. In my time here I learned quite a bit about the hardware side of networking, where I also assisted in installing routers. The team's main goal, however, was to market and explain the different technologies and components that was on offer.- Liaise with clients about products - offer product support- Sales- Site Management- Install SmartTV equipment and routers for Smart Village. - Assist in marketing/hosting product information events- Web development

At Martin Meyer Kitchens I was directly involved in designing and selling kitchens. I learned a lot in dealing with clients, assisting them with their needs, but also be able to suggest better solutions. Project management was also an integral part of my job, making sure the kitchen is delivered and installed according to the needs of the client.
