Reason for leaving: B&E’s contract ended.After I have done my course in safety (Samtrac) at Nosa I started working at B&E on the Medupi power station project as a SHEQ practitioner and because of my experience in Mechanical and Electrical (millwright) I fitted in perfectly. I worked with the extensive legal aspects of explosives, occupational health and safety act and regulations. I implemented a comprehensive SHE system, registers and other documents and files as specified by the principle contractor. My duties included: Reviewing and creating of risk assessments, work procedures, work instructions, method statement, planned task observations and other control documents used for measuring and monitoring at B&E. I am responsible for the training of employees and ensuring that all employees are aware of all the hazards at the drilling and blasting site and that they are provided with the best possible chance of a safe working environment. Because of my previous work experience as Millwright I am very serious about safety and enjoy spending time with the workers on site.
