My main responsibilities are divided between the operating room and the Intensive Care Unit. In the OR I direct anesthetic care for a wide variety of procedures, specializing in thoracic anesthesia. Common procedures include major tumor debulkings, colectomies, liver reserctions, anatomic lung resections and esophagectomies. I also serve as an intensivist in our closed combined medical/surgical adult oncologic ICU treating respiratory failure, sepsis, shock, multiorgan failure, complications from hematopoetic stem cell transplantation, tumor lysis syndrome, systemic toxicities from cancer therapies among many other afflictions. I actively participate in research efforts both in the OR and ICU. My academic interests include management of systemic toxicities related to Chimeric Antigen Receptor T Cell therapy, utilization of trans-esophageal echocardiography for non-cardiac surgery, and novel agents for reversal of neuromuscular blockade.
