Design and manufacturing of structural elements involved in the renovation of the historical airplane FIAT G.59 and its wings.

I took part in a sail-boat project for my internship period, concerning CFD study and manufacturing of a competition sailing boat. The aim of the project was to re-design the boat used by the racing team in order to make it more competitive. The whole project lasted 6 months plus the regatta itself (in September) when our team made of 8 people had to provide logistic support and reparation. This project involved manufacturing of structural components of the boat, including appendages in composite materials (linen fibre and epoxy) using a vacuum chamber technique. Using unsteady CFD simulations, I validated the boat's hull behaviour for expected sea conditions and velocity, in order to study the boat's planing effect. Moreover, the intense teamwork activity enabled to create a wonderful and professional team, which allowed to obtain a critical ranking improvement, compared to the previous races.
