Using a hands-on learning approach, we build our virtual machines from the ground up. This in turn provides students the experience to setup and configure the network settings, software selection and storage options. Working with multiple linux distributions exposes to the similarities and differences between service installations and deployments. From basic system administration to more in depth topics like website construction, information retrieval and database administration. We cover the fundamentals of client-server relationships, security and troubleshooting. Finally, we finish with a class project using Google Cloud and apply the concepts learned during the semester.
