About Elizabeth Geron Countess
"It's easy to say, 'It's not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem. ' Then, there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes. It takes a village to raise a child, grow a community, and keep our world more good than bad." (Quote by Fred Rogers) *Through my volunteer work at Crispus Attucks, the Salvation Army, the Alabama Institute for the Deaf & Blind, Early Head Start, and Holt Elementary School, I have worked with countless at-risk children in urban environments. *In an effort to help kids from the suburbs take ownership of York City, Pennsylvania, I initiated and managed a Bumper Block Art Initiative that brought 200 artists from 8 high schools and a local college into the city to create beautiful works of art.*During my reign as Miss East Coast Teen America 2014, I gave numerous 2 hour workshops on building positive self-esteem, focusing on character development, to organizations as diverse as Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Prison Ministry, The GREAT House Homeless Shelter for Teenage Girls, and public middle schools.*As a camp counselor and therapy aide at LegUp Farms, I worked with mentally and physically disabled children to form relationships and develop new skills.*Outside of the U.S., I have helped poor children in South America through the Girl Scouts Service Challenge, Outward Bound, and two Give-A-Kid-A-Backpack missions.I am deeply honored to have received Congressional recognition for my "outstanding and invaluable work in the community," a letter from President Obama, a "Youth Inspiration Award," and newspaper coverage, but equally rewarding is the look of excitement and pride from a child who just got a taste of their own success.
Listed skills include Time Management, Creative Problem Solving, Social Perceptiveness, Technology, and 2 others.

My head teaching weeks focused on mathematics (shape identification and recognition), science (exploring light and shadows), art (three-dimensional art) and music (communicating with music). Legislative Intern For Pa State Representative Kevin Shreiber
I was a legislative intern for PA State Representative Kevin Shreiber. Representative Shreiber sat on the Appropriations, Education, Environmental Resources & Energy, Local Government, and Tourism & Recreational Development committees. Education and keeping small communities competitive were his top priorities. As an intern in his office I liaised with constituents and vendors, performed basic office duties, prepared posters for rallies and attended press hearings. I loved keeping abreast of current political issues and seeing government in action on a local and state level.
Art Therapy Intern
Karen Stabley is a gifted and passionate art therapist who has been practicing for over 20 years. Her expertise is quickly exposing underlying issues and uncovering what hinders joy and happiness. Karen also teaches art therapy at York College of Pennsylvania and is the Co-Editor of Art & Art Therapy for All Things Healing, an online healing community. When I was interning for Karen, I helped to construct and assemble therapeutic materials and tools such as Serenity Jars & Calming Clay. Assistant To Ceo
Crispus Attucks (CA) is York County’s leading African American community center serving a population of more than 30,000 black people. At CA, I worked for Mrs. Jacqueline Martino-Miller, the CEO for Crispus Attucks Charter School, who is affectionately known as "Ms. Jacquie." Ms. Jacquie taught me how to demand a high standard, but treat all with kindness and respect. As her assistant, I handled a wide variety of requests and projects, collated medical & academic files for the students, and assisted the day campers as needed. A month after I left CA, I developed a very successful quarterly perfect attendance raffle with prizes and gift certificates (contributed from local individuals and companies) to incentivize students to come to school. For my program which dramatically increased the number of students with perfect attendance, I was awarded the "Youth Inspiration Award."
