Early on in my career I realized that a job well done in clinical diagnostics is essential to provide a reliable product that patients will use to make some of the most difficult decisions of their lives or a product that will provide the correct test result to pinpoint the root cause of their illness. This is the one point that has largely guided my work ethics through the many positions I held in my profession.I am also someone that enjoys respectful and professional interactions with coworkers and I encourage these connections at work, also as a supervisor I found satisfaction in motivating and helping others progress in their careers. Something I was taught in my first company by one of the directors who used to say “If you are not replaceable you are not promotable” or rather it is difficult to advance while leaving others behind. I am glad to acknowledge that I have also being the recipient in that phrase, as others have helped me along the way in my progress. In my leisure time I enjoy reading and playing chess, I am by no means a professional chess player but I can hold my own. At one point, with the help of other two coworkers, we organized a chess tournament which brought interest from people in different departments.Recently my family and I moved to the Charlotte metro area in North Carolina due to a job opportunity for my wife, this was a move that we agreed would benefit us as a family, due to this change I find myself searching for new opportunities in the Charlotte metro area. Some of the skills I can offer are the following:-Friendly personality and able to create good professional relationships with people across various departments.-SOP creation and editing-Risk assessment analysis-Data analysis-Nonconformance investigation-Experience with FDA 21 CFR 820 (cGMP)-Quality Control assay plate setup-Liquid handling robot operation and maintenance-Equipment validation (IQ, OQ, PQ)-Process Improvement (5S, Vision flowchart, 5 whys, Fishbone, Kaizen)-English/Spanish

Manufacturing Engineer - Biochem DepartmentBiomérieux Feb 2022 - PresentSalt Lake City Metropolitan AreaEngaged in troubleshooting, maintenance, and process improvement projects to support different manufacturing aspects of the disease diagnostics production steps.Used backup computers to simulate production methods on Biomek FX and FXp platforms to test replacement of current production dispensing tips for oligo formulation. Contacted possible tip manufacturers and requested sample tips for testing. Once tests were completed, all results were presented to management for review and eventually approved to be used in production.Validated new Quadvac pressure chambers (IQ, OQ) to keep product under low atmospheric pressure while in transition. Issues encountered during the validation processes were troubleshot and solutions/fixes performed. All Quadvacs were validated in a timely manner and transferred to quality engineers for the final Performance Qualification (PQ) step. I was tasked to provide training to all personnel operating these units as well as the maintenance group.Performed weekly volume verification and preventive maintenance of Tecan Fluent Liquid handling robot to ensure the unit remained viable while an extensive validation process was being conducted.Upgraded pressure release valves for the Biochemistry tank room to avoid corrosion that affected the previous PRV units that may have been a source of contamination for oligo formulation. -
Clinical Scientist IMyriad Genetics May 2012 - Feb 2022Greater Salt Lake City AreaConducted and performed process improvement projects for Myriad’s Reagents lab.Cross-collaborated as the Reagents department’s subject matter expert, to respond to questions by the FDA auditor as Myriad Genetics sought approval for its BRACAnalysis CDx test. The company received approval in 2014 after a follow up audit and after resolving all findings and exceptions initially found.Followed GDP principles to continually update the department’s SOPs to streamline processes and align them with current practices and changes. Reagents Laboratory SupervisorMyriad Genetics Apr 2008 - May 2012Greater Salt Lake City AreaCollected, compiled, analyzed, and reported production data to the department manager. Managed a small swing shift group and found out that aiding technicians in achieving their professional goals was the most rewarding part of the job. Utilized Myriad’s development program to help interested technicians reach their goals. Some of these technicians were promoted to roles such as Process laboratory technician and clinical scientist.Setup training for new technicians and supervised small continue education groups to allow more experience personnel to train on one of the areas of specialty: Reagent formulation, Robotic operation, QC setup, process improvement ideas.Conducted quarterly feedback meetings and annual reviews with each technician to provide input to the manager for advancement and salary compensations. This input gave the department manager a good grasp of the work ethics of each technician prior to meeting the director of operations.Reviewed results and analyzed data for various QC experiments to ensure viability of reagents and DNA standards for production use.Identified lab improvements by taking a leading and active role in the kaizen method.
