As a Critical Care Nurse in the Emergency Department, responsibilities include:- Triaging adult and paediatric patients based on rapid primary assessments to determine their appropriate category as per the Australasian Triage Scale.- Perform advanced critical care procedures such as assisting the Senior Registrar or Consultant in rapid sequence intubation and central/arterial line insertion- Provision of nursing care of the mechanically ventilated patient within the resuscitation area.- Meticulous and time-critical transfer of the mechanically ventilated patient to Cardiac Cath Lab, Theatre or interventional radiology followed by bedside handover of the patient to the ICU.
