Laboratory/Research Perform various ELISA assays (ie. FGF-23, IL-1, IL-18, endotoxin)  Provide care for diabetic Mice/Rats -Monitor blood glucose (BG) levels, administered insulin and/or ringers lactate when necessary (via subcutaneous and intraperitoneal injection) - Keep daily records of BG levels and weights - Perform terminal animal surgeries where the heart, cardiac blood, and liver was extracted for future use - Isolate peritoneal macrophages and collect plasma/serum for further experimentations Work with GraphPad Prism used to run statistical analysis on data [ie. Mann-Whitney, Wilcoxon, ANOVA, p-values/significance] Prepare buffers and solutions Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment Autoclaving/Cleaning glassware  Work with growing and culturing cells (ie. HAEC, THP-1, BREC, PMOs)  Deliver samples to other laboratories to be analyzedAdministrative Assist with the preparation of grants & manuscripts (writing, review/edit and submission) Type dictations (ie. reference letters, preliminary drafts for grants and manuscripts)  Prepare tables, graphs, and slides for presentations used for national meeting and for teaching residents/medical students Help doctor enter patient lab (Protein Electrophoresis) results weekly Keep track of lab office supplies (ordered, tracked, and delivered) Track journals on PubMed (print out for him to read and/or use as a reference) Carefully update doctors’ CV and biosketch Compile timesheets for doctor’s work at VA Medical Center (Mather, CA) Schedule travel arrangements and monitor reimbursement requests Maintain doctors calendar and schedule (important due dates, daily/weekly/monthly meetings)  Set up meetings (ie. phone conferences, interviews, etc) and take phone calls
