In 1992, Gerrit Westhoff started a study environmental science at the Prof. H.C. van Hall Institute in Groningen. In 1994, he changed his study to food process technology at the Wageningen University (1998) and obtained his PhD at the Delft University of Technology, Laboratory for Process Equipment (2002). In 2007, he received his MBA at the TSM Business School (University of Twente). In 2002, he started as Senior Researcher Process Technology at Royal Friesland Foods. Later, he became Senior Manager Technology and Principal Project Manager Technology. He gained experience as overall project manager in the conceptual design, front-end loading, construction, commissioning, and validation of new dairy factories and factory expansions in Europe, China, Asia, Africa, and Middle-East. From 2015 till 2019, he was Business Group Technology Manager at FrieslandCampina Consumer Dairy. In 2019, he became Director Technology at FrieslandCampina Consumer Dairy. From September 2021 till April 2023, he was Technology Director at FrieslandCampina Food & Beverage. He was managing and developing an international group of experienced senior process technologists and senior operational technologists. His group was focusing on: design and realization of new production processes, capacity expansions, process optimization, implementation of new technologies, energy & water saving projects, and operational technology. From April 2023 till April 2024, Gerrit Westhoff was Global Supply Chain Sustainability director. He set-up a new team with sustainability program managers, environmental specialists, and regulatory specialists to drive the sustainability and environmental program in the supply chain. Since 1 April 2024, he is Global Safety, Health & Environment and Sustainability director at FrieslandCampina Global Supply Chain. His international team consists of SHE specialists, environmental specialists, regulatory specialists, business group SHE managers, and sustainability program managers covering the global supply chain scope of FrieslandCampina. His team is developing and driving the global safety program within FrieslandCampina, developing the CO2, energy, and water reduction roadmaps, translating upcoming environmental regulations in measures to be taken within the supply chain.Gerrit Westhoff is a people manager, he combines strong analytical skills with the ability to reduce complex problems to the essence. He has a strong pragmatic approach in solving problems. When implementing solutions chosen, he is very focused to achieve the envisaged results.
