Afsc 30574U.S Air Force 1980 - 1990At the beginning of my USAF (truncated) Career I was granted a security clearance and worked for the USAF Communications Command on duty for the Strategic Air Command as a SACCS (SAC Automated Command and Control Systems) technician. I worked inside the SAC Command Post on systems critical to our Strategic and Nuclear Response Capabilities. After a period of time I was selected to work on the AUTODIN (Automatic Digital Information Network) network. This was a global secure digital network that handled traffic for the DCA (Defense Communications Agency), a shared communication network for all US Military traffic, the US State Department, the NSA (No Such Agency), and others. Upon the outsourcing of the support for this network to civilian support agencies, and after spending time training the civilian contractors up to speed and in line with military practices I became involved with the Quality Assurance, Maintenence Staff and IG teams. As my 10 year term came to a close the postings avialable to me semed to be regulated to trailers in a desert, so I and the Military parted ways.
