I was specifically hired as project manager to steer the company through an extremely busy period of existing hotel refits. This roll required me to keep many “balls in the air” at the same time. In less than 12 months we completed 14 major projects, 20+ smaller projects, including the day to day business, of providing 24 / 7 maintenance and call out cover to approximately 90 sites, country wide. CDS work largely in the Business to Business market supplying TV’s and TV reception and amplification systems, Audio Visual systems, back ground and fore ground music to the hospitality sector. CDS are also contracted with responsibility as sole agent for VDA in Ireland for installation and maintenance of their hospitality sector interactive systems. Working as part of a young but focused and dynamic team (5 full time & up to 12 including casual / day rate labours for larger jobs and very busy times), looking after the project management and day to day business in the field.CDS have clients all over the Republic, from Donegal to Waterford and Dundalk to West Cork and almost everywhere in between! Many properties were 5 Star including, Red Carnation Hotels, Ashford Castle & The Lodge at Ashford down to and including small 10 / 20 / 30 bed family run hotels and guesthouses.I had responsibility for coordinating and executing the following;Attending pre-start and progress meetings liaising with clients as to progress.Supply of team members, stock and equipment to site for the smooth running of the installation and commissioning program. Always working to budget and target.Delivering program instructions and methods to team members. Keeping track and reporting on “Extras” for subsequent billing by head office. Planning with engineers, architect, fire cert, mechanical & electrical, shop fitters, decorators, flooring, lighting, CCTV, Warehouse, Office space, stocking, launch / opening marketing campaigns etc.• In ’02 having completed a new company business plan, post 9/11, I sought out an Interactive TV (movies & internet via your hotel bedroom TV) supplier, VDA. From a standing start making our first sale in ’03 we were the dominant player in the Irish market within 2 years and have held that position since. With 75% market share, 80+ hotels with 9000+ installed bedrooms.• As part of our expansion plans we identified that we needed to tap into a higher end customer. We had over the years being selling multi room audio systems to clients, but we felt that we could reach a far greater market share if we could showcase our ability / products better. With this in mind we hatched the plan for the showroom we call Kokoon! This showroom is 1500 sq ft laid out as a fully functional apartment, to demonstrate the functionality of multi room audio, automated lighting systems, in house cinema, bathroom TV’s etc.
