Gerry served as VP of Business Development for Bright Energy (BEST) for almost 3 years. Bright Energy has invested over $11 million working to develop new ultra-low-cost energy storage technologies intended for multi-hour commercial-scale and utility-scale ES applications world wide. BEST continues to work on devising reliable, low-cost, turnkey systems to deliver cost competitive firming and dispatch-ability of renewable energy generation resources for Hawaii and the world. Gerry pioneered relationships for the company on the mainland, in Hawaii, and across the greater Pacific region with over 600 utility, government, and industry professionals while conducting dozens of multi-million dollar proposals / presentations to decision makers from Honolulu to Tahiti to Southern California. Gerry closed the first company deal/project ($3.2M) for the Navy/DoD with a $1M contribution from the Navy to complete a 100kw, 400kwh test demonstration project. Gerry left the company in August, 2015 when the CEO announced a new round of delays to commercial launch of a viable utility scale ES product.

Boulder, Colorado

Gerry was Vice President and Director of Fleet Sales and the top company executive for sales, marketing, and government relations at Boulder EV for nearly 2 years, guiding that company to over $4 million in new medium-duty all-electric truck and van sales, creating over 250 top level fleet relationships for the company, and helping the company to garner over $6.4 million in launch funding. Gerry pioneered, developed, and closed 32 of the first 34 truck sales for the company. Gerry worked with 50+ EPA Clean Cities Coordinators to do Ride-N-Drives with 250+ fleet directors and fleet officers in 4 states in less than 3 months. That prototype tour led to a) early-stage purchase agreements and b) 30+ new changes to the prototype to improve the vehicle for market readiness and acceptance. Gerry has conducted dozens of presentations, speeches, and talks on commercialization strategy for electric transportation at a dozen or more EV conferences over the past 10 years.

Boulder, Colorado

Patriot Wind pioneered new advantageous financial models for municipal utilities to implement cost-effective wind and solar projects to benefit the economic and ecological well being of communities across the US. The finance models that Patriot Wind endorsed and supported have now led to over $2 billion in community-owned wind projects. PW signed a $28 million wind project development deal with the city of Santa Fe, which was later undermined by one city council person. That person was subsequently censured for ethics violations. PW supported wind development projects for Municipal Utilities and Public Power Co-ops throughout the US over a six year period. During that time, Gerry gave over 30 proposal presentations, talks, or speeches on the new third party financial models for citizen owned utilities to utilize financial incentives that made projects cost effective for municipalities across the US. In addition to the13MW, $28 million wind power development project with the City of Santa Fe, Patriot Wind developed several early stage wind power projects, owned by citizen communities, in Colorado, New Mexico, California, Wyoming, and Alaska. As CEO, Gerry was invited to do speeches and collaborate with wind power and utility entities and government officials throughout the US ~ and in Brazil and Argentina. Gerry received letters of commendation from Governor Schwarzenegger and Governor Richardson for Patriot's innovative project models. To date, over $2 billion in wind projects owned by municipal utilities and co-ops have been built using various financial models that Patriot Wind's team advocated for and helped to pioneer in the wind power industry.

Gerry was brought in by the CEO and the VP of Engineering to perform a turnaround for Highland Energy Group after the company went through $1 million in a year with zero sales. Gerry did a company wide investigation of operations and processes, after which he orchestrated a 3 month transformation of company sales processes, engineering processes, and marketing tools. Working with the engineering team Gerry developed a new project development process for the firm's energy engineering financing and contracting services. Gerry then led the multi-disciplinary engineering and sales teams to develop and close over $18 million in engineered projects for LaSalle Partners, Denver Public Schools, North Carolina State Hospitals, and 30+ other national clients over 2 and 1/2 years, creating substantial client benefits such as positive cash flow scenarios, upgraded building energy systems, and lowered commercial energy bills by 12% to over 35% per year, with some shared-savings contract projects being implemented with zero dollars out-of-pocket investment partnerships. Gerry's sales management, finance programs, and marketing development strategies drove the company from $0 sales and imminent bankruptcy to $1 million in his year one, and then to 300% growth each subsequent year over the next 2 years - to $3 million and then to over $9 million. The company was sold in year 3 to a $1 billion dollar utility for 12X earnings. Gerry was awarded a stock placement for his leadership role in the dramatic turnaround and ultimate M&A of the company. In his partial year of management with the new owner company, he was awarded the Eagle Award for recording the top sales nationwide of any of the executive sales groups across all territories of the parent company.
