In various volunteer roles, my focus has been in addressing how we change our assumptions about how to protect the things we value. As we enter the 21st century, we need to consider major changes about how we live. My central focus is on the energy systems, transportation, and building technology.In past roles as Planning Commissioner (in two cities) and Sustainability Commissioner, the awareness that what we have been doing in the past, assumptions we made, may not serve us well going forward.

With Motiv as a late startup with growing pains, everyone on the team wears multiple hats.My position requires me to function in delivering Information Technology, organize Technical Writing efforts, build our first full time factory floor, and provide support functions surrounding Inventory Control, Purchasing, and PLM.

I wish I could remember all the titles Lloyd Westbrook laid on me.. they probably all fit with what I did at Motiv on a daily basis.

As a member of the 7 member commissioner, I have a specific interest in CCA development and how that might further the Goals of Sunnyvale and its community members.If you would like to learn more about CCAs, I am happy to share the information that I have been collecting.

Our team drafted new Goals, Policies and Actions addressing the Land Use and Transportation chapters of the city's General Plan.As well we create the first Municipal Climate Action Plan to focus on the needs regarding mitigation and adaptation for the next 25 years.

My first experience in how our municipal governments work. Many hours - no pay - lots of experience working with the public and complex, long life issues.

Helped various companies as they dealt with computer system implementation issues for factories and warehouses.

Mini super-computer start-up.Besides IT function, wore other hats. Ran facilities and played a key role in helping setup the manufacturing/assembly floor.

lead the team that designed and coded system support aspects of this manufacturing control product. This included installation and distribution of the software, as well as development of database tuning procedures and creation of the technical/tuning documentation set.

Ran Distributed Data Processing function in 6 subsidiaries. My team developed a complete ERP from the ground up, before such packages existed.Learned a lot about business here thanks to CFO Bernie Barry and a lot about working in 5 degree below zero warehouses.
