Develops and presents the educational materials for the Credit Institute of Canada including textbooks, lesson materials, lectures, and seminars. Achievements:• Researched and authored the Credit Management and Advanced Credit Management textbooks over ten years (Handbook I and II), that are the standard industry reference guides in Canada.• Developed and authored the Credit Management and Advanced Credit Management courses in 1999, and continues to be the instructor for students across Canada through online lectures.• Researched and implemented a core Human Resources course for the Credit Institute program in 2020 and continues to be the instructor for students across Canada through online lectures.• Developed eleven credit and collection seminars for use across Canada.• Served on the National Board of Directors for two years and on the Provincial Board of Directors for over fifteen years in various positions including president, vice-president, and treasurer.• Honored by being the youngest individual in Canada to have been awarded the CCP (Emeritus) designation.

Managed thirteen staff that were responsible for commercial credit risk, the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, information and technology accounting, vehicle leasing, and a number of corporate initiatives.Achievements:• Negotiated the first bilateral repayment agreement of Iraq’s pre-war sovereign debt, and a number of other sovereign debt rescheduling agreements with other countries including Russia and Poland.• Played a critical role in the establishment and commercialization of a western Canadian weather network.• Proposed, implemented, and managed a corporate wide expense management system that significantly improved controls and functionality while reducing numerous clerical positions, and processing time.• Assumed responsibility for several corporate accounting groups, improving efficiency and performance while reducing staff levels in each area.• Restructured and expanded the inventory financing program, increasing annual net profit by over 500 % to over $3 million annually.

Responsible for the expansion of a fashion furniture retail concept.Achievements:• Proposed and developed an international franchise operation including the development and management of: franchise agreements, real estate research and leasing agreements, information technology, store planning, supply chain management, marketing and advertising, customer and market research, project management, policies and procedures, and an on-line training system.• Led the franchise marketing and sale efforts, and all franchisee negotiations, resulting in the openings of thirteen stores across Canada and the USA in the first eighteen months.

Initially joined the organization to restructure their credit operations, which was completed within a few months.

Project manager for the implementation of a complex reinsurance financial system. Responsible for development of the project charter, project plan, resources, reporting, and overall completion of the project. Achievements:• Implemented a complex reinsurance software package.

Managed 25 professionals including lawyers, accountants, adjusters, collectors, special constables, skip tracers, and clerical staff. The primary focus was to recover damages paid to insured customers from the party that was liable for the damages, including other insurance companies, manufacturers, uninsured motorists, suspended drivers, and thieves and vandals. Achievements:• Increased corporate subrogation recoveries by 224 % over a 10-year period, despite a flat growth rate in prior years and the introduction of restrictive legislation.• Proposed and centralized the corporate recovery unit.• Developed an entrepreneurial collection department in a unionized staff environment.• Helped develop the model for Canadian companies for handling civil actions against young offenders, with the assistance of the Department of Justice and federal, provincial, and municipal law enforcement agencies.

Controlled annual receivables of over $500 million for eight western plants. Coordinated the credit and collection activities for 100 sales representatives and 5000 customers.Achievements:• Proposed, planned, and centralized the credit and collection operations of eight plants into one regional office.• Reduced average regional AR DSO (days of sales outstanding) by 12% through centralization.• Reduced staffing requirements from 19 staff to 9, while improving service levels, and expanding sales to risk accounts through efficient monitoring and control systems.Additional roles: Credit Manager, Assistant Credit Manager, Supervisor.
