I am an independent director with a long history of investment management, innovation, finance, environmental finance and general governance. I am currently a director at Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP), chair of the board of Echoworx (a privately-owned technology company specializing in email encryption), a member of a family office investment committee, and a member of the finance committee for the L'Arche Canada Foundation.I was CEO and a co-founder of Green Power Action Inc., an environmental finance company. GPA launched Canada's first carbon offset credit fund, the Greening Canada Fund, which was a voluntary carbon fund for Canadian corporations.I was CEO of the then Barclays Global Investors Canada (now Blackrock Canada) from 1997 to 2005, overseeing substantial growth there in its institutional business and leading the establishment of the iShares business in Canada, including conceiving, designing and launching the world's first bond exchange-traded fund. I have provided consulting advice to pension funds, asset managers and marketplaces.Previous to joining Barclays Global Investors, I spent 16 years with Imperial Oil and Exxon in a variety of finance roles, including corporate finance, pension fund management, overall Treasury management, internal audit, operational accounting and financial reporting.I was previously a director of Standard Life Canada and of Standard Life Investment Holdings (the global investment management arm of Standard Life PLC, now Standard Aberdeen PLC).I was previously a director of the Investment Industry Regulatory Association of Canada (the self-regulator for investment dealers and equity markets in Canada) for eight years, including one year as the first non-industry chair of that board.
