Mr. Stevens has 44 years of experience operating, designing, commissioning and providing operator training at BNR WWTP’s. I have worked on 35 + BNR WWTP projects in Canada, USA, Australia, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, UK and Spain. I have also worked with N.E. University in Boston on the WERF RAS Fermentation Study to develop a stable Bio-P process using RAS Fermentation technology. The objective is to achieve average effluent results of < 0.02 mg/l Ortho Phosphorus without chemical addition by stimulating the growth of De-Nitrifying Phosphorus Accumulating Organisms. Recent results indicate >50% of o-PO4 removal across the process can be removed under Anoxic conditions and < 0.02 mg/L o-PO4 residual in the final 2 aerobic cells. Standard operating procedures have been developed to ensure stable long term operation of this process. I am a principle investigator working with the University of British Columbia on improving Fine Particulate P removals to achieve Ultra Low P effluent < 0.05 mg/L following a EBPR process and Cloth Filtration. To date we have three pilot projects that have achieved Total P in secondary clarifier effluents < 0.1 mg/l and Total P < 0.06 mg/L in the filtered effluent. Total chemical dose of PAC and polymers is less than 30 mg/L. Current laboratory studies will fine tune Particulate Particle Distribution and Zeta Potential measurement with the objective of selecting improved chemical selection for optimum coagulation and flocculation of fine P particulate solids.
