Production of all plant material in the breeding programmes from seed, cuttings, tips to fruit on the farm.The management of the farm team and resources to bring about on-going improvements in our process from glasshouse, controlled environment, field and tunnel production.Participate with the breeders in planning and delivery, and work with other senior managers to drive the business.Lead, develop and coach the team to deliver the highest possible quality plants using available resources, ensuring individuals within the team have appropriate objectives and these are reviewed half yearly.Influence decisions on breeding selections and support decisions through accurate data and horticultural insight.Fully support new plant processes from selection through to propagation and ultimately delivery and positioning of new season plant varieties.Manage multiple crop, plant types and varieties, delivering year on year improvement in all areas of quality.Responsible for growing related health, safety and environmental activities and behaviours and ensuring the company’s policies and procedures are followed and kept up to date as appropriate.Manage all areas of an ICM (integrated crop management) scheme across the site, to include water management, environmental management, IPM and crop protection.Decisions in all areas of product selection including supplier choice, growing media and associated raw materials to deliver quality throughout.

- Responsible for overseeing the daily operations including managing the care of plants, hiring and supervising nursery and greenhouse workers and keeping tabs on the environmental standards for horticultural production.- Position and regulate plant irrigation systems, and program environmental and irrigation control computers.- Assign work schedules and duties to nursery or greenhouse staff, and supervise their work.- Determine plant growing conditions, such as greenhouses, hydroponics, or natural settings, and set planting and care schedules. - Determine types and quantities of horticultural plants to be grown, based on budgets, projected sales volumes, and/or executive directives. - Explain and enforce safety regulations and policies. - Hire employees, and train them in horticultural techniques.- Identify problems such as diseases, weeds, and insect pests. - Select and purchase plant nutrients, disease control chemicals, and other supplies. - Apply pesticides and fertilizers to plants. - Construct structures and accessories such as greenhouses and benches.- Inspect facilities and equipment for signs of disrepair, and perform necessary maintenance work.- Coordinate clerical, recordkeeping, inventory, requisitioning, and marketing activities. - Preparing customer orders ready for collection and dispatch. - GlobalGap, Sedex and Leaf Audits- Responsible for order processing, issuing delivery notes and receipts and cash handling.
