The North East Ambulance Trust is responsible for effectively handling and responding to NHS 111 and 999 calls, and operating patient transport and ambulance response services across a region covering 3,200 square miles and a population of 2.7 million people. Gerry is one of six non-executive directors, who along with the non-executive chairman and six executive directors are responsible for providing active leadership for the organisation, setting its strategic directions and aims, monitoring and reviewing management performance, and determining the organisation’s values and standards and ensuring these are maintained across the Trust. As part of his role as non-executive director, Gerry chaired the technology committee and the quality committee and was a member of the audit and risk committees.

July 2015-April 2016. I was employed as programme lead to the CfBCP. This was a partnership initiative run by the North East Quality Observatory Services and the North East and North Cumbria Academic Health Science Network. As programme lead I was instrumental in supporting the three main aims of the project which were to;• Create a network of professionals interested in learning about implementation science• Provide high-quality training and support for practitioners• Bringing the collective intelligence of the network and its improvement capabilities to bear in support of the AHSN Programmes and in particular on the uptake of NICE Guidance (technology appraisals, NICE guidelines and quality standards)As a core part of this programme I was involved in running three regional master classes on ‘Shared Decision Making’, ‘Behavioural Change (Nudge)’ and ‘Social Marketing’. These events involved the participation of almost 400 delegates from across the North East & Cumbria. As a follow up we conducted qualitative and quantitative analysis from these events and created case studies demonstrating impact of learning.
