At LPM, Instead of bringing a sample from a process into a lab tool, we design the lab tool to fit inside the process. My role is managing the development and manufacturing of high-end instrumentation involving scanning probe microscopy and other in situ surface science technologies. I enjoy working with experienced professionals and craftsmen and provide the team what is needed to run smoothly. As far as the technology is concerned, I have gained experience on various topics.- low temperatures (4He, 3He, dilution fridge, wet/dry)- thin film preparation and caracterisation (CVD, evaporation, sputtering, structuring, etching)- end stations for synchrotron based research- high Pressure Reactors (gas/solid, liquid/solid interfaces) and related equipment such as gas mixers- in situ instrumentation related to Catalysis, very high temperature CVD, growth of 2D materials (Graphene, TDMC's).- UHV, mass spectrometry, RGA- very high temperature microscopyRunning a high-tech spin-off provided me a lot of hands-on experience in the field of IP protection, business development, making deals with customers and investors, public-private partnerships (e.g. Horizon 2020 FET-program participation) strategic planning, business administration etc. Founded two more high-tech spin-off companies.
