About Gert Kroon

I am CEO of Arcadis in The Netherlands since January 2014, and in that role also responsible for the activities of Arcadis in Poland, Turkey, and Scandinavia. I graduated as an engineer from Wageningen University and Research (WUR). After study I was an officer in the army (drafted) and started my working carrier as assistant project leader at Sweco. In 1992 I transferred to Arcadis. In the last 26 years I had several roles inside and outside The Netherlands. Since January first I am CEO of Arcadis The Netherlands (ANL) limited end also member of the regional leadership team of the EMU region (Continental Europe, Middle East and UK) within Arcadis global. ANL is a separate entity within Arcadis global with a revenue of around 300 million (euro's) and around 2500 motivated employees. ANL participates in several companies like AssetRail, focussing on maintenance of rail, and Centrum voor Veilig Wonen (CvW) focussing on reinforcements of buildings in the earthquake area in the northern part of The Netherlands (Groningen).I am an enthusiastic manager with an extensive experience in the world of infrastructure, buildings, water and environment. I am result driven and know how to motivate people thru my passion for the work and my open attitude. The mission of Arcadis "Improving the quality of live" is close to my hart. I have a strong drive to take on the challenges that the world of today is facing, like climate change, energy transition, digitization, and city development.My involvement with the wellbeing of the world around me is also shown in the activities I have beside my work. I am a member of the Lions group Arnhem Arenacum and am also active is several foundations.I am a teamplayer, client and people focussed and always with a clear goal in mind. I love sports (active and passive), traveling and spent time with family and friends. I am married with Claudia and live in Arnhem.

The CvW has around 250 highly motivated employees that do their best every day to help the people of Groningen. The CvW does this on behave of the National Coördinator Groningen and the NAM. CvW is a joint venture of Arcadis and CED. On behave of Arcadis I act as shareholder. In that capacity I not only have the management of the CvW report to me but also actively help the management in their journey in this emotional and highly politically driven project.

    Right now I am again (since May first 2018) responsible for our activities in Poland. I act now is a SB type of role. Operations in Poland are lead by a management team that reports to me. In the years 2013-2015 I had a more active role in Poland, being responsible for the improvement of the results. In those years new management has been installed, improved client focus established and project management was raised to a higher level.
