As a student intern, I worked in the Computer Department,where I was exposed to technologies that aided plant efficiency. The areas inthe Computer Department include Networking, Computer HardwareMaintenance, Computer Software Support and Process Plant Computing.I was privileged to learn how to splice optic fibres using the right tools,properly carry out maintenance of computer hardware parts (including themainframe computers in the plant) and also carry out daily plant checks onthe HMI parts of the Process Plant Computing.During the internship, I also participated as a tutor in plant-wide trainingfor staff on Microsoft Office 365, which spanned a duration of 3 weeks.Through the six months duration of the internship, I learnt a lot about an officeethics, teamwork and culture and was able to advice other incoming internswho had problems with their carrier choices.It was an excellent experience that added to my knowledge bank and helpedI grow my network through the various connections I was able to establishwith the great staff, I worked with through my stay in PHRC.
