DQS (Directorate Quality Support) is responsible for the overall running of the Quality Management System: development and maintenance of quality services provided by examiners and formality officers, coordination of the different operational quality control mechanisms in place at EPO, and tracking corrective and preventive actions. DQS is also responsible for managing external complaints and users’ feedback office-wide as well as for coordinating the User Satisfaction Surveys.

The core tasks consist in searching and examining patent applications in the field of Elevators, as well as taking part to Opposition procedures as first or second member.Concurrently, I was also involved in knowledge transfer activities within the EPO and from the EPO towards external audiences, regularly preparing and delivering presentations on procedural or substantive topics at events organized by the EPO or by providers of professional IP education.

CEIPI is the oldest EQE teaching centre and is located in Strasbourg, France.My role is to teach to perspective European Patent Attorneys how to tackle the legal paper of the statutory examination for enrolling in the professionals' book (EQE), fostering the sharing of experiences amongst students coming from all countries of Europe and with all kinds of patent background.

As treasurer of the Board (Sep 2011 - Dec 2012), I was responsible for monitoring the financial status of Restour, so to provide the Board with relevant information for the achievement of the mission of the company. As chairman of the Board (Dec 2012 - Oct 2014) I was the legal representative of Restour.Notable duties were to oversee and manage, together with the Board, the strategic goals, objectives, budgets, policies, and procedures to guarantee a constant top level of service to the stakeholders (the canteen customers and EPO as a whole), as well as regularly evaluating performance to determine whether the company was meeting its short and long term objectives.

As National Member, I took part in working groups for preparing comparative legal studies for the harmonization of international patent procedures. From the very beginning, I was invited by the Board to represent the association in legal panel discussions at international venues and I successfully contributed in lobbying for nominating Milano as destination for the World Conference in 2016. In 2011, I was elected in the Board of the Italian Section of AIPPI, where I was invited to take part to the Organizing Committee for the upcoming World Conference. As board member, I cooperated with the Italian professionals for fostering and developing the IP awareness in Italy.

As European Patent Attorney, I was engaged in all facets of the patent life: from the discussion with the inventors for defining the an invention in technical, legal and business terms, to the securing thereof before the relevant authorities, to litigation and arbitration proceedings in Europe, America and Asian countries.My main jurisdiction being Europe, I normally represented my clients in Oppoistions and Appeals before the EPO, but I was also involved in knowledge litigations, both as party advisor or coordinating multiple-jurisdiction litigations and for drafting expert opinions for the national judges. Other notable activities included patent portfolio management and development inclusive of advice in case of portfolio assignment, providing strategic advice on how to secure, exploit and defend IP rights, patentability and clearance (or free-to-market) analyses, evaluation of patents and of IP portfolios, advice on secret Know-How, EU and national Designs, drafting professional advice on contributory infringement, infringement by equivalents or slavish imitation. During my time in Perani, I also developed the foreign business and correspondents’ network of my firm, successfully increasing the weight of the international patent market from 4% to 12% in five years.

Studying and reviewing scientific and technical documents, to determine the real background knowledge underlying an invention and assess whether it was new and inventive. Also team leader of a Knowledge Transfer project for fostering on-the-job training of colleagues about procedural and legal updates, as well as lecturer on the European Patent law and procedure for Japanese. I also represented the EPO at one Innovation fair in Milan.

In 1998, I attended the Italian Navy Officers training Academy, in Livorno. I was then assigned to the Navy Logistics Center in the first half of 1999 and then to the Standing Commission for War Material Testing, where I took part to testings of some war exhibits stemming from the NATO involvement during the NATO-Kosovo war.
