I've worked on the service side of the software industry my entire career, so I understand the importance of delivering on expectations. As a developer, my work was accomplished ahead of schedule. I focused on finding practical solutions and finding final quality / acceptance through tight iterations.As a project track lead, I shaped my team of recent graduates into a highly respected unit that was able to manage change and strain without breaking. We delivered on the first implementation of Massachusetts State Auto (the ultimate in regulatory complexity in the US) with Guidewire's PolicyCenter.As a project manager, I took on several high visibility projects. The first was a client that had previously walked away from our software after being frustrated during implementation. It was imperative that we deliver the project with excellent results and I was selected to take the hot seat. We completed the project under budget and on-time. The last project I managed was a client that had struggled with the complexity of our products for several years and needed help getting their products updated to our latest versions. It required segmenting and prioritizing an array of technical debt issues that didn't have easy solutions. The long term viability of their implementation was in jeopardy, and it wasn't clear whether a re-implementation would be needed. Despite incredible headwinds (including an earthquake/hurricane during project inception) we were able to secure the implementation and complete a successful upgrade.As a manager, I've mentored/coached many young, talented individuals to maximize their abilities and opportunities. I am involved in the process from pre-hire to post-training assignments. I've built a team that creates/maintains the technical hiring processes for our region and personally handle final round technical interviews. I believe it is imperative for leaders to get their hands dirty and to contribute in tangible ways from the front line.
