Gerald “Jerry’ Sprague, the founder/CEO of exterior restoration company GF Sprague, has spent his life balancing business, family, travel & sport. Growing up in a Roofing family he started his apprenticeship at 10, learning from his Dad’s Tin Knockers in a Sheetmetal shop. Days off from school were spent on roofs. “Dad taught us to always do the right thing, keep your word, take pride in your work even if nobody looks & take care of your customers no matter what. Those principals guided him in all ventures. As a Babson sophomore in 69’ Jerry went out on his own, restoring roofs, gutters, windows & metalwork on campus buildings, businesses & homes while carrying a full curriculum. After graduating he turned down a good paying job to be a business owner. After graduation he took a night course called “Entrepreneurship". That was the class that helped the most in his fledgling business. Jerry has mentored many craftsmen, training each to make good on what he learned growing up. If it wasn’t right he’d work with them til it was This created many customers for life. From that evolved “Gold to Green” culture where the most talented craftsmen pass their skill sets to the younger generation. GF Sprague has restored many landmarks, institutions and homes. What makes Sprague unique is their success in both the highly regulated institutional/public market where a contractor must be state certified per trade, and the Underregulated ‘Wild West” residential market, where no oversight has led to an epidemic of substandard work. His design experts are trained to help homeowners understand value in properly funding the project to “Get It Right” the first time.Jerry is now navigating Sprague to new growth, expanding services to windows, funding programs & speeding the purchase to install cycle. The biggest opportunity & challenge is to embrace process & technology to help get what customers want quicker. After 50 years, he has no plans on retiring any time soon. This is too fun!
