I am a Biomedical Engineering student at the University of Ottawa, with a passion for applying engineering and computing skills to solve real-world problems in health and society. I am also the VP Social at Engineers Without Borders (EWB), a non-profit organization that empowers people to create positive change in their communities and around the world. As the VP Social at EWB, I am responsible for organizing and overseeing social events and activities within the EWB community, such as gatherings, outings, and other initiatives that foster community and promote our values. I collaborate with external clubs and sponsors to facilitate larger-scale events and initiatives, such as workshops, fundraisers, and awareness campaigns. I also use my customer service and communication skills to engage with EWB members and stakeholders, and ensure that our events are inclusive, accessible, and enjoyable. In addition, I am involved in two academic research projects that aim to design and improve prosthetic devices for individuals with lower limb amputation and to address osteoporosis in egg-laying hens. I have gained valuable laboratory skills, such as animal handling, surgery, data collection, and analysis, as well as experience in working with multidisciplinary teams and mentors. I am motivated by the potential impact of my work on improving the quality of life and welfare of people and animals, and I am eager to learn from diverse perspectives and experiences in the field of biomedical engineering.
