We completed phase one of the conversion of a legacy USA Trade Online pay-for-service application using IBM Notes and Domino to a PHP/MySQL application on a short time frame in compliance with NIST security requirements. Currently we are near completion of phase two of the USA Trade Online project. Converting it from a pay-for-service application to a free application.Authored ITMD’s standard operating procedures and emergency recovery procedures for MySQL as well as implemented configuration changes to bring ITMD's MySQL servers into compliance with NIST security requirements. Applied optimization techniques to the MySQL server and database to improve application performance and reliability.Provided training on engineering principles for information technology security as it applies to PHP & MySQL applications.

This site is running on Drupal 7 and the redesign required a rewrite of the site’s template and additional support to UI designers as well as input on Section 508 compliance.Researched into the feasibility of linux/PHP based applications communicating to Office 365 / Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 API and updated Microsoft’s PHP SDK to accommodate recent changes to Microsoft’s CMS and presented my results to Broadcasting Board of Governors.

Implemented configuration changes to comply with NIST security standards.Section 508 Compliance - Created javascript and PHP utilities to test for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0. e.g. Ensuring that a contrast ratio of at least 5:1 exists between text and background behind the text. Automated color selection consisting of HTML formatted colors pairs alternating by 180 degrees in hues. Equally spaced around a HSL color wheel.Economic Indicator Release Improvement Project - The Census Bureau provides in-depth descriptions of 14 critical economic indicator data ( e.g. U.S. international trade balance in goods and services ). The goal of this project is to level the economic playing field by providing equal availability of the information and it’s impact on the global economy. For this project I review code, perform unit testing and provide advice to two other senior developers to meet these goals.Google Maps Enterprise Evaluation - I am evaluating a new Google product that can best be described as a YouTube for maps. Census maps are one of the more popular features on census.gov and the end goal is to improve the sharing & mobile capability from the previous map applications.

PHP code review and application development for the U.S. Census Bureau as well as Movable Type Enterprise and HTML design templates that maintain, or bring, segments of public and internal sites into section 508 and W3C compliance. Keeping my mind on the hand held devices and wide screen formats as well.Part of the above process includes the creation of JavaScript applications to enhance the user's experience. The tools used are dependent on the need but recently, my favorite tool has been jQuery and the minimal amount of code needed to traverse and manipulate the DOM, events, styles, etc..For the Census 2010 website, I preformed reviews and implementations of site applications and I am proud to say that I was part of a team for a site that was nominated for a Webby.

Duties: Develop applications / databases to support company projects. Focus on supporting Adobe/Macromedia Flash projects by creating web administrative interfaces to manipulate and edit data called on by the client through the Flash application, provide some data called by the Flash Application and sending commands to the server providing the remainder of the data to the Flash Application. Most projects requiring a user interface use methods similar in concept to AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) to improve responsiveness to the end user.We were competing with New Horizon Interactive'​ s, now Disney's, MMORPG Club Penguin. However, our target audience was younger and the content was going to be geared to be more of the educational nature.Notable Achievements: The entire project required a secure Administrator/User account management system, CRM/Demographics system and Media Management System. All of it was created by me.
