I am a designer with a passion for using design in new contexts and ways, to help people understand complex systems and situations and bring about positive change. Specifically, I am interested in the design of support and care services and how these service integrate interfaces and information. I am currently thinking about how care practices and ethics can be embedded in interface and information design, particularly in the design of systems used by those who provide care and support.I have taught user experience research and design and critical design at the University of Technology Sydney, and most recently have been involved in two collaborative projects between UTS School of Design and Northcott Innovation, a disability service provider. These projects involved developing innovative digital tools and interfaces that empower and support people with disability and their advocates. One of these projects - The Good Life - won an Australian Good Design Award in 2024. I write primarily about women's sport, with a focus on diversity and inclusion. In 2020 I spent three months embedded with the GWS Giants AFLW team, a profound experience that resulted in a book. Never Surrender is an unflinching look at the reality for women playing Australian Football at the highest level. I am currently working on a book about women and strength. I have a PhD in visual communication design and a BA in writing.
